Dr. Martin B. Dickman, Director, Institute for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology, Christine Richardson Professor of Agriculture, Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, Texas A&M University, presented the 2008 Richard Memorial Lecture, "Death Be Not Proud: Modulation of Programmed Cell Death for Disease/Stress Tolerance in Plants," on Monday, April 28, 2008.

Mushrooms May Aid Rapid Vaccine Response (Video)
A rapid production of therapeutic human drugs using modified mushrooms may help mount a faster response to a variety of public health problems.

 

Dr. Elwin Stewart served as the judge for the mead (honey wine) competition at the 2008 Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg . The competition received coverage on the Harrisburg Patriot-News ' Farm Show blog as well as on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN).

 
John M. Skelly , Professor Emeritus of Plant Pathology, in the Department of Plant Pathology and Dennis Decoteau , Professor of Horticulture and Plant Ecosystem Health in the Departments of Horticulture and Plant Pathology, are the recipients of the 2007 ENRI (Environment and Natural Resources Institute) Innovation Award .
 
Student Achievements
Congratulations to Alma Rodriguez and Dylan Short, who recently passed their Ph.D. comprehensive examinations.
 
Congratulations to Maria Velez-Climent passed her Masters exam on December 10, 2007.
 
Alumni
Lee Schisler, Professor emeritus of plant pathology, recently received the 2007 Outstanding Alumni Award from Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences.
